Abstract
Torsion of the gallbladder is an uncommon disorder which requires prompt surgical treatment and its occurrence is an unusual anatomic relationship between the gallbladder and the liver. Twisting of the gallbladder on its pedicle interferes with
its
blood supply and usually results in gangrene. Wendel reported the first case of acute torsion of the gallbladder. This condition occurs mors common in women with the peak incidence between 60 and 80 years of age. The symptoms depend on the types
of
torsion; incomplete(rotation less than 180¡Æ) or complete(more than 180¡Æ), but correct preoperative diagnosis is rarely made. If it is treated early, the mortality is low(3~5%). This seven years old female was admitted to hospital due to acute
abdominal pain. On exploration, gallbladder was twisted and results in gangrene. Torsion of th gallbladder is a rare condition especially in children.
